What is the difference between the different plate options?
Both plate options have there key attractive points which are outlined below:
Cast Iron Plates:
- Cast iron plates are made from solid iron and are a more traditional type of weight plate used in strength training.
- Cast iron plates are thinner than bumper plates, which means you can fit more weight on a barbell.
- They are not designed to be dropped from overhead, as they can potentially cause damage to the floor or the plates themselves.
- 2 inch opening fits all regular 7 ft Olympic Barbells
- Available in 2.5, 5, 10, 25 and 45lb pairs
Bumper Plates:
- Bumper plates are made from rubber, with a metal insert in the center.
- They are designed for Olympic weightlifting and CrossFit-style workouts where the weights are frequently dropped from overhead, such as during cleans, snatches, and overhead lifts.
- Bumper plates are more shock-absorbent than cast iron plates, making them safer for dropping from height and reducing the risk of damage to the floor or the plates.

Why should you purchase a squat rack or power cage?
Squat racks are the holy grail of fitness equipment. Every fitness enthusiast or pro worth their salt is probably married to the squat rack. And contrary to what you might think, you can target both the upper and lower muscle groups on a squat rack. But if you’re a beginner without any idea about squat racks, it might be intimidating to get started.
There are several muscle and strength-building exercises that you can perform on a squat rack. Its components make setting up exercises that work the whole body seamless.
- Squat racks allow resistance training, and consistently exercising with weights will improve your muscle’s size, how long it can work for, and the load mass that it can carry.
- The exercises are safer to perform because of the safety bars. This component provides for a suitable contingency in case of failure.
- It’s highly versatile and saves time because it allows you to perform various movements in the same spot. This will come in handy, especially when you’re strapped for time and still want to progress on your physique and strength.
